TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress with Blu-Ray Support |
Pegasys TMPGEnc excelled themselves with the MPEG Editor 3 and have done it again with the improvements to TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress.
With so many features this program is not for the faint hearted or casual user and its difficult to know where to start to describe all its features. Its the Only Video Converter you'll Ever Need. Pegasys have excellent features & specifications on their web site
TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress gives you the freedom to take almost any video file and encode it to your desired file format including DivX, AVI, QuickTime, MPEG 4-ISO, H.264, DVD-Video, DVD-VR, HDV camcorder, Blu-ray Disc and much more. This powerful software provides you with functions and features ranging from a simple cut-editor tool to multiple powerful video filtering and effects.
The latest release v4.5.1.254 comes with the following New Features:-
AVCHD Input Support
- Now you can take all of that footage from your AVCHD camcorder and convert it to other formats! Turn it into other video formats such as DivX®, WMV, DVD-Video, and more!
HD MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Output Support
- The MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 output template can now be used to output in high definition (up to 1920×1080, progressive, 60fps).
Blu-ray Disc Output Support
- Create Blu-ray Disc compliant MPEG-2 video with the all-new Blu-ray Disc output template. Choose between BDMV and BDAV formats. BDMV is compatible with Blu-ray interactive menus and can go to Full HD (up to 1920×1080, progressive) resolutions. BDAV is suited for home videos or archiving without menus.
AAC Audio Support in MPEG-2 Transport Streams
- The popular AAC audio format (2ch) can now be used as an audio source in MPEG-2 transport streams.
This program will convert from & to almost any video format with all the output parameters configurable manually or by using the built in templates, it has to be the most comprehensive video editing tool on the market.
AVCHD Input Support now supports .ts file extension which although it was supported in earlier versions the .ts extension was not recognised
HD MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Output Support this will produce hi definition video streams with smaller file size for the same quality as MPEG2. It does however require the correct codec & fast processor to decode & so far my knowledge of this format is limited
Blu-ray Disc Output Support templates are comprehensive and cover BDAV as well as BDMV an have all the available settings for each format enabling easy encoding into Blu-Ray compliant format. Selecting the Blu-Ray template shows the output file size and gives a selection of standard media sizes. There is the facility to adjust the bitrate & or the % output of the media capacity so the file will fit the media.
As there are different specifications between BDAV & BDMV only compatible parameters are selectable
AAC Audio Support in MPEG-2 adds another audio output format
Disappointing is the fact that there is no provision for AC3 Dolby 5.1 output Pass-Through. I would have liked to have seen this facility in TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress the same as there is in TMPGEnc MPEG Editor
The output quality in all the formats I have used is excellent and difficult to improve upon. If you need to convert various Video formats into an assortment of Video formats this has to be the best program for the job.
